As FACET became a larger and more powerful group, they became bolder with their demonstrations, often employing hackers to delete cogs from their host servers or holding rallies in which they would vandalize and burn gears in bonfires. In response to this, an activist group formed calling themselves Ergo Sum. They deeply believe that cogs, gears, and clockworks, are conscious beings deserving of protection and natural rights. They could hardly be blamed for making that assumption, given that cogs have such profound intelligence, individual personalities, and form relationships, or that gears as so anthropomorphic. Their vanguards often speak about peace and equality, but the ones that last are not shy to violence, often leading counter-protests against FACET or fighting to protect mistreated or abused gears. Attracting the millions of citizens that have come to recognize the intelligence and individuality behind Cogito entities, Ergo Sum grew rapidly and has, by means of mass nationwide organized protests, become a powerful and influential political power.
